I can understand that not all of us want to spend a few hundred dollars on an espresso machine, so if you’re thinking around $200 or less, the Cuisinart EM-100 1000-Watt 15-Bar Espresso Maker might be good enough.
It’s stainless steel, works on 1000W and has 15 bars pressure, or in other words, not a bad machine. The build is heavy and sturdy and it has even has a warmer for your cups on top.
Ok, enough with introductions. The Cuisinart EM-100 1000-Watt 15-Bar Espresso Maker makes a good espresso with a lot of crema if you know what grounds to use and tamp it properly.
Needs Getting Used To
Many users have said that if you tamp it too hard, the coffee won’t come out or the machine will stop completely. That could be a problem of using too fine grounds. So use coarser grounds, don’t tamp too hard, and there, you have a perfect cup of espresso.
The water tank is large, which is good because that means you don’t have to fill it up every 2 or 3 runs, and it will have enough for steamed milk as well. And that reminds me of the steam wand.
The steam wand is long enough for deep frothing, unlike the budget semi-auto DeLonghi EC155. And it moves around at good range; a sign of a good steam wand. Use less milk for frothing because to get the wand out you have to tilt the pitcher, but even a little milk is enough to make a lot of froth.
The most common problem people find with this espresso machine is leakage. Not all of them leaked, of course, but quite a few has found this problem after some use. I think it’s because although the machine seems sturdy it still has too much pressure and might not subsist very frequent use.
All in all, this is a decent espresso machine if you’re making 3 – 4 cups of coffee a week, and willing to spend time to decalcify and clean out the portafilter often. Cuisinart EM-100 1000-Watt 15-Bar Espresso Maker is only $110 and Amazon even offers free shipping.
