A saver for espresso lovers with tight budgets!
The DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 ounce Espresso Maker is often compared to the DeLonghi EC155, which is almost similar except for the looks. I remembered that I chose the EC155 over this one, because at that time there was a price difference.
Best for Tight Budgets
But now the DeLonghi BAR32 is going for the same price! For less than $100, this espresso machine can’t be beat because it is pump driven instead of steam driven. You don’t get that rich flavorful taste of real espresso with steam driven machines.
It’s difficult to find any better pump driven machines at this price, if only because this espresso machine makes a decent cup of strong, crema-topped espresso. If you like cappuccinos and lattes, the steam wand works well too. It’s a bit low so you might have to place it somewhere on the edge of the counter for easier access, and take off the plastic attachment, which doesn’t help much and gets brittle over time.
You’ll have to maintain this machine well to keep it going, such as using distilled water to minimize mineral buildup, and cleaning out the machine regularly, that goes without saying. You have to heat up the machine some time before making the coffee too. I don’t think anyone can complain since this is pretty basic stuff even for more expensive machines.
Not tall enough, but can live with it
And another thing is, the DeLonghi BAR32 is a small machine so you’ll have to use shot glasses or small cups for the espressos and then transfer it to the mug if you’re making lattes. Not a big deal, really.
I think the DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 ounce Espresso Maker is a great buy for those who’re looking for a pump driven espresso machine under $100, though I don’t know how long it will stay at that price. Check out the best price at Amazon now, and I believe they still offer the free shipping. What a bargain!
